In 2001 I founded Extreme Improv in Charlotte NC, and 18 years later, it's still going, as Charlotte Comedy Theater and Training Center and recognized as one of the top comedy clubs in America.
SHOWS: We perform long and short form improv comedy every Friday 8pm and Saturday night 7 and 9pm, at Wet Willies in the NC Music Factory, 900 NC Music Factory Blvd. Charlotte NC. CLASSES: Ah, but for the love of improv! Myself and my crew of instructors, teach improv classes to everyone from beginning to advanced, and generally have classes every 6 weeks back to back. Classes are $250 for each 6 week session, and each class is 2.5 hours in duration, once a week. We focus initially on everyone getting comfortable on stage and with each other and the basics of improv. The philosophies are simple, play like a child, make each other look good, work as a team, and fear not failure, as there is none. It is simple, but also difficult for us, as adults to unlearn years of socialization that have taught us to be critical, scared of judgement, fear of being seen as less than perfect, and to compete at all costs. In improv, we become the people and society that we wish to reflect to the world. Yes, you can learn how to do improv on stage, but you will also learn that we are in control of our own destiny and we will only evolve when we commit ourselves to taking risks, surrender any attachment to outcome, and trust that we will make magic out of whatever happens next. Private Events and gatherings: The CCT cast and I have designed and delivered a miriad of individulized shows and parties to delight groups of all sizes and backgrounds, from our "This is your life" party, our "mustache crawl", our " Mock Oscars" and practical jokes. We will do just about anything, so if you have a special event that needs some comedic twists and a scapegoat, look no further.
Hosting: My cast and I can host all sorts of events, from shows, to benefits, concerts, anything you need a mic for, I will get out there and keep everything rolling and lively. I also have a great cast of improvisers who also perform stand up comedy and can be hooked up as needed for any event.
